An inspiring and satisfying end to the Me Before You trilogy.
What is it about
This is a final book to Me before You trilogy, and we follow Lou Clark once again as she steps out of her comfort zone and arrives in New York city to work for a rich couple, the Gopniks. When she arrives in New York, I am rooting for her and most of all, for the Gopniks to fall in love with her the way we and Will did. She befriends a lovely older woman called Margot, who lives in the same building as the Gopniks. They share a mutual love of fashion. Margot inspires Lou to follow her dreams.
But when Lou suddenly finds herself unemployed and homeless in New York, she surprises us by sticking around and follow her dream.
What I love about this book
Lou had become a friend to the readers. We also fell in love with Will, felt her pain in the second book, and rooted for her in New York. I absolutely loved being part of her journey. In the first book, she was very much the passenger in the journey, being the subservient girlfriend to Patrick. In the second book, she was a train wreck, dealing with the aftermath of Will’s death. In the final book, she eventually emerged as the driver in her own journey, emboldened by Will’s words, to live boldly. She finally realises that if somebody else like Sam wants to be in her life, they will need to join her and not the other way around.
I loved that Jojo leaves us in the end with Lou finally being where she needs to be. It is a satisfying end to the much loved trilogy.
