This may contain some spoilers, but no major plot giveaway
Set in Somerset, the book explores several POVs; the students, the teachers, parents, and police officers, all dealing with the school being under lockdown, with gunmen who have stormed the school grounds.
While offering no sympathetic backstories for the terrorists, the author explores radicalisation in the way it challenges the commonly held beliefs in the western world. The different POVs serves an emotional platter; from a grieving mother to a teenager suffering from PTSD, and to a pregnant police detective who had rushed to the incident without a coat.
It is a page turner, written with sensitivity, and leaves you teary eyed on the last page.
